Just mastered tracks for the excellent Fran and Josh: www.myspace.com/franandjosh. They combine flamenco and hip hop influences with great melodies and lyrics. Along with my analogue valve gear, I used PSP's fantastic Xenon mastering limiter.

Previous to that, I have been dubbing mixing 2 x 60 min tv documentaries for Friday Productions about the 2009 ASP World Surf Championships (featuring Mick Fanning) called 'Red Bull Mentawais Dreams'

And I've also been preparing some drum samples for a forthcoming Drum Drops sample CD. These are the real deal, featuring a world class drummer, recorded to 16 track 2" tape through a vintage Neve!!

Have had a busy December and January with album mastering for Brighton based band Turncoat www.myspace.com/turncoatmusic. Have also mixed tracks for London based Butterflies On Strings www.myspace.com/butterfliesonstrings, and have also been mixing for composer Rob Lane on his 'Ben Hur' score. This is ABC's mini-series remake of the classic feature that will be broadcast at Easter.

I used a Bricasti M7 reverb for the first time on string, brass, flute and choir tracks that Rob recorded at Abbey Road. Awesome! They sound as good as everyone says!

And I have also installed PSP's sQuad plug-in on my Pro Tools system. You get 6 Eq processors that are based on classic analogue consoles and outboard; very good value and they sound excellent.

Recently set up a small Genelec 5.1 system in my room at The Metway Studios, using 5 x 8020s and a 7050b sub. I downloaded the Waves 360 Surround Tools bundle and used the M360 Surround Manager to help with the setup, and although it took me a while, I got there eventually! The 80 series Genelec monitors are really excellent, and very easy to work with.

The installation was to enable me to mix for composers Mogul and The Prawn (http://mogulandtheprawn.com) who have been producing soundtrack music for an advertising campaign to be broadcast on film and tv.

Have also been mixing some excellent live tracks for Wouter Hamel, but in stereo on my Pro Ac 100s!

Recently went to Amsterdam and had a great day meeting Wouter Hamel (www.wouterhamel.com), who is signed to Decca. Brought back a hard drive with 5 of his songs which I have now mixed. His album should be out soon.
Also had the pleasure of briefly meeting Russell Brand when I was hired as Pro Tools operator on the set of his new film, Get Him To The Greek.

Apart from that, I've been writing more library tracks and enjoying the improved midi capabilities of Pro Tools 8! And I recently bought PSP's "Old Timer" which is a vintage style compressor/limiter. PSP make great reasonably priced plug ins, and this is no exception. Have a look: www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/oldTimer.html

Unfortunately, my MacPro just died! This happened immediately after I installed OSX 10.5.7, and it took me a while to figure out that that wasn't the problem! Turns out it's a faulty video card, and the I'm not the first to have suffered this problem. Managed to hire another machine from wehiremac.com, at a reasonable rate, and my machine should be back soon.
My most recent project has been the mix of Ella Spira's score for Philip West's thriller "Uncut". Before that I mixed various tracks for composer, Rob Lane (www.imdb.com/name/nm0485528/), mastered Matt Coldrick's latest album "Green Nuns On Ice" for his Absolute Ambient label, and also mastered View From The Hill's new album. I have also been writing tracks for productionmusiconline.com.
